Bee Butts

Title: Bee Butts

Linocut relief print

oil-based sage-green ink on white white mulberry paper

Dimensions are 13” by 13”

Story behind the art:

“One of the simple joys I’ve experienced while admiring wildflowers is noticing amongst all the hard working pollinators, the bee that is inside a flower with just its butt sticking out wiggling, the bee napping after a full feast covered in pollen, and just the small behaviors that remind me that even the most industrious workers can be silly”

This limited edition relief print was carved by hand on linoleum in 2026 and pressed on small-batch paper in 75 signed and numbered editions. The paper is made from gampi fibers and is thin and soft, yet very strong with lightly textured fiber inclusions for an expressive surface and character. Made by an eight-generation company in Tokushima, Japan - the business creates sustainable, eco-friendly (uses regenerative farming), acid-free and archival paper that truly stands apart and an ideal backdrop for my work. The oil-based ink was handcrafted in the UK and is a non-toxic alternative ink that eliminates the need for harsh chemicals in the printmaking process.

Each print is signed, numbered, and includes a certificate of authenticity and is packaged in acid-free clear sleeve. Prints are carefully rolled with newsprint and shipped in a rigid tube to prevent bending or folding.

The piece in a handcrafted cherrywood frame (as pictured) are available to Austin residents upon request. Framing dimensions are 16” by 16”
