Armored Pig

$149.00

Title: Armored Pig

Woodcut relief print

oil-based ink on white Hosho select paper

Dimensions are 17.5” by 13” unframed

Story behind the art:

This limited edition relief print was carved by hand on wood in 2025 and pressed on small-batch Hosho paper in 100 signed and numbered editions. The paper is made from gampi fibers and is thin and soft, yet very strong with lightly textured fiber inclusions for an expressive surface and character. Made by an eight-generation company in Tokushima, Japan - the business creates sustainable, eco-friendly (uses regenerative farming), acid-free and archival paper that truly stands apart and an ideal backdrop for my work. The oil-based ink was handcrafted in the UK and is a non-toxic alternative ink that eliminates the need for harsh chemicals in the printmaking process.

“I created this piece to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar. Our task was to create an armadillo piece that would be featured among other artists in the show. So, I carved a typical armadillo wandering the Texas landscape with a pollinating passenger to keep him company”

Each print is signed, numbered, and includes a certificate of authenticity and is packaged in acid-free clear sleeve. Prints are carefully rolled with newsprint and shipped in a rigid tube to prevent bending or folding.

The piece in a museum-grade hand-milled walnut frame (as pictured) are available to Austin residents upon request.
