Story behind the Art:
This original art piece was painted with both gouache and watercolor in 2025 on Nujabi paper. It was reproduced at original size 11” by 14” with a 50 print numbered series on both Hahnemuhle German paper and Accent Opaque uncoated paper.The Karner Blue Butterfly is a near-extinct species that migrates through North America. In this painting, the butterfly sits atop a curled fern among a forest of native wildflowers. This piece calls the viewer to protect the nature around us and appreciate the both complex and fragile ecosystem we live within.
“I enjoy raising my own caterpillars and releasing them when they hatch and really appreciate the struggle they go through as they evolve into majestic flying pollinators. This particular species is so vibrant and beautiful and migrates to areas that are home to some of my favorite flowers”
