Title: The House I can’t Afford

Linocut relief print

oil-based black ink on cream-colored Kitakata paper

Dimensions are 7.5” by 7.5” unframed

Story behind the art:

“This is the first piece I’ve been able to carve with the detail I’ve been craving out of blocks. It took a lot of experimenting with different materials and inks and I’m pretty excited to finally tap into carving techniques that feel more natural to me.”

“The subject of this piece is a completely made up cottage in a place that doesn’t exist. I carved it after being discouraged by the housing market in Austin and the limitations of my husband’s job not allowing him to relocate. I know that a seemingly unattainable dream resonates with a lot of people today - so this piece represents that longing, hope, and daring to dream for things that feel out of reach. For now, until I reach that dream, this little piece will do.”

This limited edition relief print was carved by hand on linoleum in 2026 and pressed on small-batch paper in 75 signed and numbered editions. The paper is made from gampi fibers and is thin and soft, yet very strong with lightly textured fiber inclusions for an expressive surface and character. Made by an eight-generation company in Tokushima, Japan - the business creates sustainable, eco-friendly (uses regenerative farming), acid-free and archival paper that truly stands apart and an ideal backdrop for my work. The oil-based ink was handcrafted in the UK and is a non-toxic alternative ink that eliminates the need for harsh chemicals in the printmaking process.

Each print is signed, numbered, and includes a certificate of authenticity and is packaged in a custom acid-free presentation kit that includes a custom 10” by 10” soft grey mat board for easy framing. Prints are mailed in a flat rigid-mailer to protect them from bending or folding.

The piece in a museum-grade hand-milled walnut frame (as pictured) are available to Austin residents upon request. Sizing for the frame is 9” by 9.5”
